Dear Mr. Davis:
Thank you for the notification of your upcoming Border Watch
Event. The Coronado National Forest does not issue special use permits for this type of volunteer activity, and none
is required for gatherings of less than 75 people.
Members of your group may participate in dispersed camping
within 300' of existing roads, or developed camping sites are available in Rucker Canyon for $10 per night. The
stay limit is 14 days. We ask that you keep a clean camp, pack out all of your trash and ensure that campfires are cold
to the touch before leaving.
Motorized vehicles are authorized on existing roads only. All ATV's need to be
street legal and licensed, and no cross-country driving is permitted to minimize damage to natural resources.
The
coming months are busy ones for outdoor enthusiasts in the Chiricahuas, and your group is very likely to encounter numerous
hunters, hikers, picnickers and birdwatchers. I ask that your members demonstrate respect for others seeking such recreational
experiences.
As the plans for your upcoming event become finalized, I ask that you notify my office of your actual dates,
duration and areas of operation in advance and also provide a summary of activities after the conclusion of the event.
Thank you in advance for your cooperation.
Sincerely,
/s/ William A. Edwards
